VOTE YOUR VALUES TODAY
|
|
When Jesus said “render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s,” He indicated there are limits to the authority of the state. That timeless truth should temper our public servants—but lately, it has not.
In America’s self-governing system, We the People are Caesar, so we must vote our values. Before Christians vote on Tuesday, they should know where candidates stand on key issues.
The Sanctity of Life
Congress has appropriated billions of dollars over the years to Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider. Candidates should pledge to defund Planned Parenthood, as well as embryonic stem-cell research and overseas abortions.
Restoring Health Care
Despite overwhelming public opposition, Congress enacted and President Obama signed on March 23, 2010, a law amounting to a $1 trillion federal takeover of the health care industry. Candidates should pledge to repeal this dangerous law. They should also support constructive alternatives, such as medical tort reform and selling interstate insurance.
Marriage and Family
The Bible says clearly that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and that homosexuality is a sin. Candidates should oppose radical attempts to redefine it. They should also oppose the proposed Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which would impose the homosexual political agenda on the workplace.
Defending the Military
Servicemen and women put their lives on the line. They deserve policies that ensure maximum military readiness and the best chance to win wars and return home alive. In 1993 Congress passed a law incorporating the Uniform Code of Military Justice’s ban on homosexual sodomy. The current drive to force the military to accept open homosexuality is profoundly immoral.
Taxes and Federal Spending
The U.S. government is spending trillions of dollars we don’t have, thus enslaving our children and grandchildren to debt. Candidates should sign Americans for Tax Reform’s pledge not to raise taxes, and demand a government roll back, not just slower growth.
Judicial Tyranny
In recent weeks, federal judges have struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, the military’s ban on homosexuality and California’s constitutional marriage amendment. Judges routinely strike down laws against abortion, laws protecting children against Internet pornography, and more. Candidates should pledge to support only judges who uphold the Constitution, not undermine it.
Environmental Tyranny
In Genesis, God requires us to be good stewards of the Earth. But a false religion has arisen that amounts to worship of the creation instead of the Creator. The proposed “Cap and Trade” law would shackle industry, create massive new energy taxes, and put Americans under the thumb of global elites. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken on vast powers never intended by Congress, which needs to rein it in.
Summary
This November 2 may be the most consequential election of our time. Many Americans believe we have one last chance to turn our nation back from plunging off the cliff of secular socialism. Electing fiscally and socially responsible lawmakers could begin the recovery of our God-blessed nation.
Please vote on Nov. 2, and consider assisting others who need help getting to polling places.
